Spa treatment

Pool bath
The water from the two thermal wells supplying the spa was declared medicinal water in 2003 following clinical tests. The composition of the water is mainly bicarbonate, but other macro-, micro- and trace elements are also present in high concentrations. It is suitable for the treatment of various types of wear and tear (degenerative), spinal and joint disorders, and its use in cures improves mobility and reduces spinal and joint pain. This is due to the beneficial properties of water in relieving spasms and contractures in muscles and joints.

Tubbing with thermal water

Reccomended for those who cannot use the communal pool bath due to physical problems (e.g. extensive skin lesions).

Mudpack
Mud has positive physical, biological and chemical effects. Applied locally or over a large area of the body, it improves blood circulation, relieves joint contractures and promotes the regeneration of damaged tissues by improving metabolism. In our spa we use mud compresses.

Weight bath (subaqualistractio)
The weight bath, a well-respected method of water therapy, is the brainchild of a Hungarian rheumatologist, Károly Moll. The treatment relaxes the nerves under pressure exiting the spinal canal, reduces the tone of the muscles adjacent to the spine and reduces spinal, hip and knee joint mobility restrictions.

The traction treatment at our centre can be applied to different parts of the body: the spine alone, or the spine AND the larger weight-bearing joints of the leg, the hip and knee

There are three types of pull:

  • one-point: traction (pulling) is only through the Glisson device on the neck
  • two-point: suspension is provided by two axillary supports
  • three-point: when the suspension is achieved through the Glisson device and the two axillary supports

In all three cases, the pulling can be done with the patient's own weight or with lead weights placed on the waist or ankles.

Always start the weight bath with a self-weight and start with a three-point suspension. If the patient is tolerating the treatment well, we open out the first one and then the other axillary support and the weight is gradually and slowly applied to pull the cervical spine. Only after a safe self-weighted cervical traction can weights be placed on the waist belt! However, this should only be done if traction of all three spinal segments is to be achieved. To achieve joint traction of the leg, ankle weights are used: in this case, the belt holding the weights is placed symmetrically over the ankles.

The weights used for pulling are usually 2-3-5 kg lead weights. In accordance with the principle of gradualness, a maximum load of 10 kg is allowed for the cervical spine, 20 kg for the back and lumbar region, while a maximum of 4 kg is recommended for the hip and knee joints. The treatment takes 15 minutes.

Carbonic acid bath
During the carbonated bath treatment, the patient sits in the bath up to chest height.  The treatment causes the superficial blood vessels to dilate. The method is an excellent symptomatic therapy for vascular circulatory disorders, rheumatological and musculoskeletal diseases, arterial and venous circulatory disorders, peripheral circulatory disorders and complaints resulting from peripheral nerve damage.

Medical therapist massage
Medical therapist massage can effectively alleviate a wide variety of musculoskeletal complaints, and it also has a stress-relieving effect. Massage with special techniques can loosen painful knots, improve joint mobility and reduce persistent pain caused by muscle tension.

Underwater jet massage (tangentor treatment)

Underwater jet massage is effective in various chronic degenerative musculoskeletal diseases, post-operative conditions and post-accident treatment due to its muscle relaxing, contracture and stress relieving effects. The treatment is carried out in a special bath (tangentor) at a temperature of 34-37 °C. The treatment can be applied to the whole body or just to a specific part of the body, and lasts on average 15 minutes.

The course of treatment: the patient lies down in the bath. Once the patient is sufficiently relaxed, our therapist starts to dose water jets to the patient with a device, at a suitable water pressure (0.5-2 atmospheres) and distance. The aim of the treatment is to control the pressure of the water jets and gradually increase it.

Underwater group physiotherapy
Underwater group physiotherapy is one of the most important and effective forms of treatment and can be used successfully for a wide range of problems. It is now an essential tool in complex musculoskeletal rehabilitation, but it is also very effective in treating other conditions: some internal medicine, neurology and pulmonary diseases.

Complex spa treatment
Complex spa treatment is a combination of four different types of treatment, as defined by a specialist. The combination of therapies can help you to recover faster and more effectively.

Group therapeutic swimming under the age of 18
Children's sedentary lifestyles play a role in weakening the immune system and in the development of postural problems. Untreated deformities result in cumulative complaints that increase in adulthood. If there’s already a problem existing, help your child to get rid of it!

Therapeutic swimming is medically recommended for:

  • cardiovascular and joint diseases
  • respiratory disorders
  • spinal and chest deformities
  • overweight
  • maintenance difficulties to be corrected
  • and nervous system damage!

Beneficial effects: in addition to eliminating postural disorders, it has a beneficial effect on the circulatory and respiratory systems, helps to lose weight with a gentle, even physical workload, strengthens muscles, improves stamina and even the condition of the nerves!

Claimoptions (on recommendation of a specialist doctor, subsidised:

  • max. 2 x 52 treatments per year per curare
  • 2 sessions per week, 2 per day during school holidays
  • sessions are divided into groups - depending on the proposal and swimming ability!

The lessons are taught by qualified instructors, using specialised equipment, according to a planned theme.

The following are authorised to order therapeutic swimming on a treatment form: paediatric cardiologists, pulmono-allergists, immuno-allergists, paediatric surgeons, rheumatologists, orthopaedists, endocrinologists, neurologists, rehabilitation specialists, or, on their recommendation, general paediatricians or doctors of mixed general practitioners.

Swimming is a therapeutic activity in itself - it can keep you physically and mentally healthy.

If you have the opportunity, take advantage of it as often as possible!
